Two roads diverged in a wood, and Janae Sowards took the one less traveled. Fortunately for Lexington Tax Services valued clients, Janae’s decision made all the difference. Looking back on the unconventional route she took to become a financial advisor, Janae finds meaning in that popular Robert Frost poem.
She didn't start her journey seeking to become an advisor. Before joining Lexington Tax Services, Janae spent years helping children with communicative disorders as a speech-language pathologist until she put her career on hold to raise her children. When it came time to return to work, Janae was inspired by the example her parents had set. "I always knew my purpose was to serve others.
Janae co-founded a firm now called StraightEdge Insurance Agency, before joining the Lexington Tax Services team in 2012. She shares her parent’s passion and love for working with individuals, families, and business owners to help guide their financial decisions.
An analytical person, Janae finds satisfaction in figuring out how to pull the various moving pieces of her clients’ financial life together to help set them on the best path to reach their dreams. “As a tax professional, I can help people in a meaningful way and truly make a positive impact on their lives. We believe everyone should have someone to look after them. That’s why we are here” said Janae.
A graduate of Utah State University, Janae earned a bachelor’s degree in communicative disorders. She is currently working toward obtaining an Enrolled Agent license to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service.
Janae and her husband Justin, live in Georgetown, Texas with their five children, including triplets, Aubrey, Brock, and Caleah, as well as Peyton, and Hazel. Janae is committed to volunteering for her church youth activities and her children’s sports and enrichment programs.
